How to prepare Beans Porridge | Nigerian Recipe

  • 5 cups of beans
  • 1 cup of Sliced onions
  • 4 ripe plantains
  • 2 stock cubes
  • 200 ml of palm oil
  • 500 ml Ground red tomatoes
  • Ground Red Pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste


  • Pick the beans, precook for 3 minutes. Wash and set aside in a bowl.
  • Fry the ground tomato/pepper in a frying pan: Set a frying pan on the heat, allow [our in the palm oil, allow to heat for 3 minutes then pour in the ground tomato/peppers. fry for 10-15 minutes until it dries.
  • Cook the beans until it becomes soft: Just boil 6 cups of water in a pot, add the beans, spray the onions on top and cook for 40-50 minutes until it becomes soft.
  • Once the beans is soft, add the ground crayfish, 2 stock cubes, fried tomatoes/peppers.
  • Add salt to taste.
  • Cover and cook for another ten minutes and you are done with preparing beans porridge.
  • Stir and serve.
  • You can serve hot or give it a few minutes to cool and thicken.
